The 2nd Tee Times Am / Am was
completed last week.
24 players contested over the 4 days at Salgados, Quinta
do Lago, Vila Sol and Alamos.
Daily and Overall Prizes were awarded to the Winners.
Following the Cocktail / Welcome
party on Sunday evening, the Texas Scramble at
Salgados proved to be a successful format of Monday,
with lunch afterwards and all competitors mixing in, making
it an excellent introduction for the week to come.
Salgados was in excellent condition, taking in to account
the previous weeks weather, and all were welcomed by the
warm and general friendship of the staff.
The first day of the serious competition
golf started Tuesday at Quinta do Lago (South), when scores
started to count for the overall trophy. The format being
Paris Betterball using three quarters of individual handicaps.
It was a pleasure to be back at Quinta where the course
played it's full length, and once again proved what an excellent
Championship venue it is, with it's special aura and excellently
prepared course.
Second Competition day was Thursday
at Vila Sol proving yet again to be a tough choice, with
no team scoring more than level par points, obviously yesterdays
rest day was not used for practice???
On the final day the Competitors
were introduced to a new course on the agenda at Alamos,
with all to play for and only 6 points separating the 4 leading
teams.
The 2 leading pairs (Handicaps 6 & 12 and10 & 15)
started the day on level terms and the closest of matches
transpired, with the lead changing hand on several occasions,
culminating with the winners holing for the win, with the
last putt on the last green, a better script could not be
written.
Gala Dinner and Prize Presentation
were held at Chez Carlos Restaurant on the Saturday evening,
where all competitors, friends and relatives enjoyed a splendid
meal folled by a night of Dancing and Singing, led by Del
Boy's excellent entertaining, this also proved that most
competitors had some energy left to see them through to
the early hours of Sunday, all praised Phillip and his Staff
for their service on the night.
