Costa Azul south of theTagus river has to offer seven good golf courses, Troia, Montado, Aroeira I and Aroeira II, Quinta do Perú and Ribagolfe I and Ribagolfe II. Some recommended towns to stay are Sesimbra, Costa da Caparica, Setubal or Parque das Nações in Lisbon city to avoid road traffic and long drives.
Estoril and Cascais areas , there are two great championship golf courses, Penha Longa Atlantico and Oitavos Dunes, both have recently hosted major european tournaments. Beside those two courses in the same neighbourhood are Quinta da Marinha, Estoril club, Beloura golf, Belas Clube Campo all great value as holiday golf courses.
North of Lisbon with easy motorway access from Lisbon centre there are four golf courses. The most renowned, Praia del Rey golf course with its spectacular location on the Atlantic coast, combining the links and parkland feeling. Golden Eagle designed by Rocky Roquemore and Bom Sucesso and Campo Real both designed by Donald Steell. Vimeiro, a 9 hole golf course complements the portofolio.
