Description:
La Moraleja II Golf Course opened in 1990 as the second course at what's now Royal Club La Moraleja in Alcobendas, designed by Ron Kirby of Nicklaus Design. Built with spectators in mind from the outset, it hosted the World Cup of Golf just two years after opening, where Fred Couples and Davis Love III won the title for the United States. As with the rest of the club, advance booking is essential.
This is the longer, more muscular sibling to Course 1, stretching well past 7,000 yards with only a couple of its ten par fours playing short. Three large lakes come into play across the round, none more theatrically than at the par-five 16th, where the fairway doglegs right alongside water almost the whole way to a green surrounded on three sides. The 18th shares its green with the 9th in a design flourish built for tournament crowds, and the whole layout leans into distance and spectacle more than its older neighbour.
Facilities include a driving range, academy, and locker rooms, shared with the wider La Moraleja estate. Few private clubs in Spain can offer World Cup pedigree alongside a genuinely dramatic finish — book ahead and see it for yourself.
