Golf Costa Daurada traces back to the late 1970s, when a modest nine-hole club here collapsed and was rescued and relaunched by local entrepreneur Jaume Miquel, becoming Catalonia's sixth golf course. José Gancedo laid out the original 18 holes; a 2016–17 rerouting under Alfonso Vidaor, backed by an eight-million-euro investment from the Miquel family, brought the course into its current form. Pine and willow line the fairways a few kilometres inland from Tarragona and its Roman ruins, with Reus airport a short run away and Barcelona under the hour. The course mixes links-style stretches with technical, water-guarded holes, doglegs and generous bunkering, set across gently rolling ground with hilltop tees that open the views out. It plays fair for beginners and demanding for low handicappers in the same round, which is part of why it hosted a golf event at the 2018 Mediterranean Games, drawing entrants from fourteen countries. The clubhouse, a converted Catalan farmhouse on the highest point of the estate, houses a restaurant built around Catalan cooking. Two putting greens, a driving range, an approach area and practice bunkers back up the golf school. Book Golf Costa Daurada for a course that rewards a proper look at the yardage book, and stay on for dinner at the farmhouse once the round is done.
